Welcome xx
I always cringe so badly in job interviews when I am asked about passions and hobbies as I literally think I don’t have any?! I love my simple life, Netflix is my best friend and I am very content with my beautiful home, wedding planning, my little babies 🐯🐶 and giggling with my gorgeous girlies.. the only other thing I ‘really enjoy’ beyond my normal loveliness is holidaying but I had always supposed that couldn't be considered a passion or hobby 🤷🏽♀️.. I hadn’t quit my job and thrown a backpack on, but then after a little reflection, I recognise I have been very lucky to see many places and (much to my fiancé’s dismay) I spend the majority of my time intensely researching our next next travel destination or obsessively reminiscing about the last. So after a lot of lockdown reflection I suppose I really am passionate about travelling...
not that’ll admit that in a job interview still *internalised simply as she better not ask for time off *🤣.
My most recent get away through Covid restrictions made me want record my experiences and made me consider doing it for all of our adventures. So much effort, planning and research goes into each of our getaways that it feels silly to not have the information stored somewhere so I decided to write a summary of all I've loved and loathed on our travels as a memory and reference point for future plans. Writing is not my strong point! BUT planning definitely is.
I have always loved travelling, relaxing and seeing different parts of the world but my partner’s job has never allowed for breaks beyond 2/3 weeks at a time so I have always tried to plan adventures which would allow us to experience as much as we can in the short space of time that we have; careful navigation of the globe and a well-researched itinerary is key!
My idea of a holiday may be different to yours, at the old age of 28 i’m now not embarrassed to admit I don’t love niche things or doing something just because ‘you have to do it whilst you’re there’. I am not a fan of beaches and I’m not a big drinker, I am an absolute sucker for a tourist trap and theme parks, zoos and markets are often things I could find on my doorstep but that I love to find abroad. I am not a massive instagrammer or cool by any stretch of the imagination. I love to bag a bargain whilst enjoying as much luxury as our budget can afford. I am writing this mainly for myself to reminisce before passports are swapped for prams (not pregnant! but one day hope to be) and I imagine in years to come I might find this blog helpful if returning to a favourite destination and maybe in the interim it might inspire a holiday of yours..
If you aren’t already bored of reading then I hope you enjoy the array of destinations explored. The only things nearly as fun as being on holiday is planning it and looking back on it.
Lots of love, Charlotte ✈️ ☀️
